Welcome! 

My name is Chanel Harley Ph.D. and I am an instructor in the Political Science Department at Georgia State University.  My research interests include political communication, politician-centered communication, U.S. chief executives, minority politics, and social network analysis. I am ultimately interested in continuing my research interests on political communication and politician aids to gain election/re-election. 

My dissertation titled, The reciprocal relationship of political communication: How governors use social media to influence election outcomes, examines how U.S. Governors use social media platforms to promote their re-election efforts. I defended my dissertation in July 2023. I previously was a Provost Dissertation Fellow at Georgia State University. 

At Georgia State, I have taught several courses across the U.S. government discipline including Introduction to American Government and Introduction to American Law. I currently teach African American Politics at Georgia State for Fall 2023. 

I possess a B.S. in Community Health from the University of Maryland and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgia State University.
